The End of the Man Cleanse

The Man Cleanse is OVER!!!

I’m sure the few of you who follow my blog (thanks 🙂 ) didn’t appreciate my little footnote in my last post where I dropped that I have a boyfriend. Those of you who follow me on twitter got the news a little earlier and I’d assume you too were surprised when I mentioned I was “boo’d up” a couple of months ago. LOL I understand the confusion, because HECK I’m confused myself. “How did this happen?!” you may ask as I ask myself. Especially you long-time ThisIsTip readers, who know about my off and on man cleanses over the last year or so.

Hitting the Reset Button

I am constantly surprised by how much I enjoy twitter. Despite my initial reservations of putting all kinds of information out there for everyone to read (I had the same thoughts about FB and blogging), it might be my favorite form of social media. I really enjoy my weekly chats with e-friends, staying up on what’s going on with my favorite celebs, following my favorite food trucks and wading through tons of useless information.

I think my favorite things is being able to gain different perspectives and learn new things from other people who have totally different (and sometimes) similar views. Some are self-proclaimed experts, other are degreed, others still just tell it like that see it.

I’m not sure which category Happy Black Woman falls but I enjoy her tweets. She describes herself as a writer, speaker, trainer and coach, who firmly believes in the power of personal and professional development to transform people’s lives. It seems monthly on her blog she issues at 31 day Reset Your Life Challenge and it seems monthly I forget to sign up. Well not this month. May is the month that I will take the challenge! I urge you to join me. Head on over to the Happy Black Woman blog and sign up. It starts today!

I have no idea what this challenge entails, but I plan to come here hopefully daily but at least weekly to share my progress during this challenge.

Aside

The holiday spirit hit me late this year…just last weekend in fact, despite the fact that I had mailed my Christmas cards and attended my office holiday lunch. Somehow this weekend while my wonderful neighbor was trying to get my heat to work, it FINALLY hit me! I began to set out my holiday dishes, hang my garland and bake ginger snaps.

ANYWHO…I just wanted to say Merry Christmas to all of you! Don’t forget the REAL reason for the season. Jesus!!! He came and died on the cross for you and me. I’m so thankful for my life, friends, family. Take some time and reflect on all your blessings. One of my resolutions will be to post at least one blog a week in 2012. I hope you all had a great year and that 2012 will be even better.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

So Blessed…yes, yes

I woke up in the morning feeling fresh to death
I’m so blessed, yes yes
I went to sleep stressed, woke up refreshed
I’m so blessed, yeah yes
Water in my face and everything is in it’s place
Peace of mind even my grace
I’m so blessed, yes yes yes
My grandma just turned one hundred
I’m so blessed, yes yes yes yes

I’ve had an event full last 3-4 days and one thing that is apparent…I’m so blessed!!

My Confusing Labor Day Weekend

I first mentioned Mr. Off Limits in Out of the Blue and then again in Your Ex’s Friend. Still I’ll give you a short intro to the “grayness” which is Mr. Off Limits and I. A recap… Mr. Off Limits is a friend of a guy I used to hang out with, 90% of our friendship happens on Facebook where we sickeningly flirt on each others wall, most of our mutual friends think we’re an item, we’ve been asked when are we going to stop playing and hook up, and prior to this trip we’ve never spent ANY time alone together. I’ve always thought we were playing with our flirting. For example, “our song” (currently) is Lupe’s “Outta My Head” so he may post on my wall “girl I wantcha to know, I can’t get ya outta my head ;-)” and I may comment “you know I love it when you sing to me”. Sometimes it’s a bit naughtier like his status may read “I found a gray hair” and I’ll comment “where? ;-)” He posted a while back to my wall “will you be my e-girlfriend?” and I said yes so we are officially e-boos. lol Still with the exception of a few parties, since we’ve never spent any real-time together we seemed to just be eflirting . Queue this Labor Day weekend.

“Maybe I’m Just a Mean Old Lady Like the Paperboy Said…”

I love the smart things Sophia says. She had a stroke to blame her bluntness on, I don

I’ve been told by more than a few people that I’m mean. I’ve never really thought too much about it, because I really think I’m fairly nice, I have several friends, blah, blah, blah…of course I’m biased.

A guy I met on twitter (and later in person) some time last year sent me a text out of the blue the other day. A random “Good morning. u crossed my mind. how are you stranger” text. I didn’t respond, I mean I don’t even really know him, we talked on twitter and then went out to dinner once and that was it. The contact had long ago stopped and I feel no need to make an effort to keep contact. He sent another one the next day that read “I know you were most likely too busy to respond to me yesterday, so I’m just going to stopping by to say hello. “Hello” Enjoy your week“. I didn’t respond to this either as I was sick that day, like called off from work sick. So guess what came next? A twitter DM that read “Did you change your cell number?”

Food Trucks: My new obsession

You may be saying food trucks…that’s so last year…lol. I’ve heard they’ve been all the rage in other parts of the US, but here in ATL they’re a fairly new craze. Something to do with strict food preparation regulations or park zoning issues. Either way the Atlanta Street Food Coalition has come together to provide us with great street food options at various spots throughout the week.

I’m hardly a  foodie, actually I’m a very picky eater, but I like to be in the know and try new things. So one day after reading about Food Truck Fridays at Atlantic Station on twitter I decided to head on over at my lunch break. That particular day there were about 8 trucks in attendance and after pursuing a couple of tex-mex trucks, a sliders truck, a salad/wrap truck, a creole truck I decided on a chicken quesadilla and it was delicious. They even had a couple of dessert trucks with cupcakes and popsicles!

Where does the day go?

Sunrise/Sunset

As I sit here on my sofa watching The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and typing this blog, I’m wondering “What happened to my day?”. I mean really, I don’t think I accomplished anything today. I’m always amazed by those organized busy body types that conquer the world daily. Seriously, I have no idea how they do it!
